<article><hdr>Static view of U-10 Super Courier</hdr><body>
<hi style=afpcap>Originally designated L-28A when ordered in 1958, the Helio Super Couriers were obtained to evaluate their suitability for resupplying isolated missile sites. The aircraft were subsequently designated U-10A. More than 100 were purchased by the Air Force for service in Vietnam including 26 U-10As, 57 U-10Bs capable of extended range, and 36 higher weight U-26Ds. All versions had outstanding STOL performance and were therefore ideally suited for operations within the rugged terrain common in South East Asia. Survivors were returned to the USA for service with four Air National Guard squadrons including the 129th Air Commando Squadron at Hayward Air Terminal, California. </hi>
